By Bike

Nafplio with an almost flat morphology, with a lot of pedestrian walkways and a cycle track offers a ride by bicycle. Apart from the historical centre we will have the opportunity to explore the Old Town perimeter, which hides a magnificent countryside with easy routes even for children (8 years old+).

We begin our ride from Trion Navarchon Square, where we see the Town Hall, the first pharmacy, the monument of Ipsilandis, the statue of Otto. We pass the statue of Kapodistria and enter a beautiful park that hosts the statue of Kolokotronis on horseback.

Then we enter the “Gate of Land” (Pyli Xiras) into the Old Town as we admire the statue of Staikopoulos, Acronafplia and Palamidi.

We continue through the picturesque alleys and stop at Saint Spyridona to revive the assassination of Kapodistria.

On our way down we pass in front of the first Parliament of Greece and stop at Constitution Square (Syntagmatos sq.). There we admire the Venetian arsenal, today the Archeological museum of Nafplio and the Trianon. We learn the history of Constitution Square and its buildings; from there we head towards the harbor. We’ll follow a route having the view of Bourtzi and the Argolic gulf. We reach the lighthouse and continue on the paved road which embraces Acronafplia and leads to Arvanitia. From Arvanitia square we continue on a dirt path to get a taste of a route which leads to Karathona. The view literally catches one’s breath from the natural beauty the scenery offers. Back to town crossing the foot of Palamidi, we end up at the spot we began full of pictures, joy and oxygen.
