Bastion of Epameimondas – Palamidi Castle

The entrance to Palamidi is made from the bastion of Epameinondas. We usually pass fast, buy the ticket and not observe it. But it is worth to stand in the gate and discover the symbols of the Ottomans.
They have incorporated victory emblems, a turban, a sword and a headbreaker. It is one of the eight bastions of Palamidi. It was incomplete when it was occupied by the Ottomans, who completed its construction externally.
The Ottomans called him Seytan Tabya, the Devil’s Bastion, as he was considered the most vulnerable of the fortress
